Introduction to Web Services

A web service is a software system designed to support interoperable, machine-to-machine interaction over a network. SOAP and REST are the major Web Services used in today’s world. The knowledge of Web Services would be very helpful in developing any web-based enterprise applications and it is very important to understand the necessity of Web Services in our applications.

This introductory course covers the basics of Web Services and Different types of Web Services with real time examples.

Contents of the course are as below:

1. Introduction to Web Services: Overview of why we would need Web Services, different ways in which data can be exchanged and some basic data exchange formats. It also highlights the importance of a Service Definition and how to implement the same.
2. Types of Web Services: Discusses the basics concepts of SOAP Web Services and REST Web Services with real time examples.
3. Differences b/w SOAP and REST: Highlights the major differences between SOAP and REST Web Services.
4. Quiz: Frequently asked Interview questions related to Web Services and other topics mentioned in the course.

Approach is to explain in conversational/colloquial Kannada to reinforce the learning and for better understanding.
